Thepart numbers were originally printed on a cardboard disc glued to the top ofeach coil, but these discs fell out and were often lost over the years. The part numbers were also printed in faint silver paint near the base of eachcoil. If those numbers are still visible, you can use this chart toidentify the coil's band. Note that the coils have different numbers ofpins on the bottom, so that they can not be plugged into the wrong stage.Single Adobe PDF page.MEISSNER DELUXE SIGNAL SHIFTER MANUAL (AllPre-war models, Composite Military Document)This is a pdf of the composite manual Meissner made forthe military during the Korean War covering the Signal Shifters produced up to1942. It covers all the Shifter models from the original through the 1942model. Apparently they were still using these at that time. Ihave a Deluxe Shifter that is stamped 'MFP' with a 1953 date (moistureand fungus proofing.) The available Signal Shifter manual scans onthe usual radio manuals download site were so horrible that I did this one tohelp people have a decent manual to work from.
I am working on scanningthe EX- postwar manual. Single Adobe PDF file.MEISSNER DELUXE SIGNAL SHIFTERMANUAL (1940 model, 9-1077 to 9-1080)This is a pdf of the civilianinstruction sheet supplied with the 1940 Deluxe Shifter, models 9-1077 through9-1080. These model numbers refer, apparently, to the cabinet color andpossibly the AC primary power voltage required.
This document is stampedwith an early 1950's date at the top stating that it has been reprinted by themanufacturer as a convenience. This is the model with the accessorysocket on the rear apron rather than the socket hanging on a pigtail ornonexistent.Single Adobe pdf file at the linkbelow.NEEDHAMS EMP-20 MANUAL AND SOFTWAREA couple of years ago itappeared that Needhams went out of business, taking with it the web page and thus the software and the manuals forthe EMP-20.
